Overalls Are Back!

For a comfy, edgy, summer look, I layered theUrban Outfitters Urban Renewal Vintage Cutoff Overalls (no longer available online) over the Urban Outfitters' Kimchi Blue Lace Bralette in cream ($16) over it all, I put an Urban Outfitters Staring at Stars plaid blouse (no longer available). On my feet are high socks with  Steven by Steve Madden gold studded black utility boots (no longer available).

I loved this look because it was fun, and edgy, which are my favorite clothing combinations.

Good Eats: Bermuda!

Every summer, my family and I take a trip to Bermuda. Every single time, I fall more and more in love with the amazing food on the island. Fine dining is one of Bermuda's most famous attributes. During my most recent visit a couple of bites stood out to me:

The Fairmont Southampton Princess Resort & Spa's Ocean Club Restaurant is the home of these Grilled Fish Tacos that were so tasty, I couldn't help but devour them. The Ocean Club Restaurant has a superb ambiance, settled next to the rocks overlooking the caribbean sea. Inside the tacos is grilled fillet of Mahi Mahi, alongside a simple tomato salsa, sour cream, and pickled cucumbers. Another appetizer that was delicious here was the Tuna Tartare (not pictured). If there is tuna tartare on a menu, it will no doubt be ordered by me! This tuna tartare was harissa spiced, with mangos and avocados and toasted flatbread on the side....my mouth is watering just thinking of it.
Another fantastic Bermuda favorite is the Four Ways Inn, "the Premier Fine Dining location in Bermuda." Pictured above is the Fourways Sampling showcasing tiny bites of four of Four Ways' delicious appetizers which include a Carpaccio of Angus Beef with Parsley Pesto, Maine Lobster Salad with Mango Dressing, Roasted Beetroot, Fennel & Goat Cheese Salad, and Escargot in Garlic Cream Sauce on Brioche. (I'm a sucker for a classic escargot!) If you are planning to visit, a must have is the Fourways Veal Classic which is an escalope of Veal Tenderloin in a Lemon & Lime Butter Sauce and served with Parmesan Potato Roll & Grilled Vegetables...it's something you can't miss!!

Last, but certainly not least, is the Harbourfront Restaurant & Komodaru Sushi Lounge minutes from Bermudas main city of Hamilton. For dinner I decided to be adventurous and try their Venison Ravioli. The dish consists of Homemade Ravioli filled with Venison and served on a wild boar ragout with parmesan cheese and black summer truffle. (anything with truffle must be fantastic). Having never tried Venison, I was unsure of what to expect but it was wonderful! I admired the creativity in this dish greatly, and the taste was amazing as well.

Although they can get pricey, Bermuda has some of the best restaurants that I have ever had the pleasure of dining in. If you ever have the opportunity, go! And with an empty stomach and full wallet you will not be disappointed.

Flowy Pants and a Muscle Tee

For a fun summer look, I paired the Urban Outfitters Staring At Stars Printed Wide-Leg Pants (now $39) with a white cotton muscle tee from Forever 21, the Brandy Melville Triple Triangle Necklace, the Deena & Ozzy Double-Strap Sandals in Black ($29) and BCBGeneration sunglasses (no longer available). This outfit was perfect for a day out in the city when it wasn't too hot!

Macondo, The Hidden Latin Gem in Downtown NYC And a Look Into Their Summer Menu

New York City is home to countless numbers of restaurants ranging from steak houses, to japanese sushi spots, to taquerias and tapas bars. Macondo is a tapas style restaurant situated in the downtown area of the city on East Houston Street. Between winter and summer, the restaurant gives it's menu a spin based on the current season. The Bruselas, roasted brussels sprouts with chipotle aioli (not pictured), are a creation by Macondo's very own executive chef Máximo Tejada from one night of accidental drunken stupor and hunger in the kitchen, are one of the best items on the menu. The summer selections, however, do not include these brussels sprouts and all their roasted deliciousness.

                                                                        Pato Arepa
Dorado a la Parilla
Camarones Taco

Some of the selections that I was lucky enough to indulge in that are included in Macondo's summer menu are(in order from top to bottom): Pato Arepa, an open faced yellow corn arepa with a mouthwatering duck confit, paired with collard greens, figs, and a delectable guava demi-sauce. Next is the Dorado a la Parilla which showcases a beautifully grilled mahi-mahi married with fennel, oranges, grapefruits and blackberries. Lastly, the Camarones Taco features shrimp in a delicious chipotle sauce paired with oranges, the latin staple: pico de gallo, and a nice touch of cream, situated atop a corn tortilla.

At Macondo, quality is certainly showcased within each and every dish. Anything and everything I have ever eaten at this Downtown NYC gem has been finger lickin' deliciousness! 4 and a half out of 5 stars for this inventive and always scrumptious tapas
restaurant. A sure Fashionista's Favorite!
